The University of Belgrade (Faculty of Philosophy) and the Slavic Seminar of the University of Freiburg are pleased to announce a virtual workshop devoted to the study of pilgrimage literature in the medieval and early modern Orthodox world. Bringing together an international group of scholars, the workshop explores historical, literary, linguistic, and digital approaches to pilgrimage texts related to the Holy Land and its wider sacred geography. By addressing both textual traditions and broader cultural, devotional, and methodological perspectives, the event seeks to advance comparative research on Orthodox pilgrimage writing across regions and periods.
The workshop will take place online (via Zoom) on Thursday, 26 March 2026, and will feature four thematic panels followed by an open discussion.
